Kickass Torrents (commonly abbreviated KAT) is a website that used the BitTorrent protocol to provide a directory for torrent files and magnet links to promote peer-to - peer file sharing. It was created in 2008, and went offline on July 20, 2016, when the U.S. government seized the domain. The Kickass proxy servers of the site were shut down simultaneously by its employees.
